Posters and Brochures
A brochure is a great marketing tool which is affordable and yet has ample room for your product message. As an introduction for new products, your Single Fold Brochure / 4 page brochure or your Tri-Fold Brochure will make as a great marketing leave behind. Use these brochures for a Trade Show Special Offer, Quarterly Flyer, or a News Letter about your company. You can include tear-offs which can be used as order forms or other reply sections on your product when you order.
Think of a Poster as a large flier 18" x 24". Poster Printing is used very effectively as an Event Advertisement. Use your Poster to include a large image of your event or product,(s). This large marketable area of 18" x 24" should include your contact information, product specs, and other company or event information. One effective poster marketing strategy would be a quarterly or semi annual poster campaign to include a new or different product with a calendar at the bottom. This is a great way to keep your image in front of your customers 365 days of the year.
Designing Effective Fliers
The most important decision you will make about a brochure is how are you going to market it. Included in a Pocket Folder for a sales presentation, as trade show table material, new product launch mailer, counter top advertising in store or in street marketing and mall marketing.
Street Marketing or Rack Fliers
Typically, a hand out flier will be seen only briefly, as people walk past. With permission, Flyers can be placed at shopping malls, university buildings, and can be used at local business to business community fairs.
A successful Street market flier stops passers-by in their tracks, but doesn't typically keep them very long. A large, bold headline is essential, and a graphic is helpful in getting someone to stop and look. The main text should be restricted to just a few points, and again, the type should be pretty large.
Fliers
A brochure that you design to hand to someone, or to appear as the reader opens an envelope, needs to catch your eye for attention; create a sence of action to call, email, or reply back in writting.
Designing with Type
Type is the character of the letters you use: their shape, intensity, and quality. We'll look first at quality.
Professional designers can assist you in creating a brochure or can layout an extensive campaign. If you need design services we are here to help you with creating a successful printed product.
Don't use more than two-or, at the very most, three-typeface families in any one brochure. And make sure your typefaces complement each other; it's all-too-easy for them to clash. Also, avoid the currently popular "ransom note" style, where every letter is a different size and weight; it's almost impossible to read.
Designing with Graphics
Choose your graphics to reflect what you are trying to tell the customer. Are you comparing your service to competitors using graphs, or are you making a bold statement bringing attention to a special offer using a graphic.
Your Logo is your Image. Logo branding will have your customer's remembering you at a glance, so do not make your logo too detailed. Keep it simple, and if possible it should reflect what business you are in.
At ColorPrinting4U.com we print in Full Color, so use different colors which complement each other. Color Type should be 12pt minimum and not be Italicized, Graphics can be colorful and designed to attract attention to your message.
Use full color images to show your customers your business. Lawn care professional should use nice green landscaped lawn images. Manufactures can use product images, event planners can use an image of the event they are promoting. Images tell a story of what business you are in.
Neither of these steps are difficult, but they do require proper preparation. Plan ahead and your print advertising will be very useful to market your company's message.
Designing with Color
Full Color Printing allows you to create a Postcard, Product Sheet, Business Card, Door Hanger, Pocket Folder, CD Tray Replicated and Duplicated CD's or Poster with a color theme. If you were a Pool Supply company, you would want to create your theme using ocean blue water, not black and white printing right!
What are the advantages of color?
Full Color (4/color process printing) important in product marketing? Because... Color Sells! If you had two Printed Pocket Folders from two company's that wanted your business and one was in 2/color and the other was in Full Color, you would most likely remember the one in full color. Full color printing allows you to create an almost unlimited array of color.
Designing with Visual Impact
A brochure has to draw and hold the attention of the reader. Let yours jump out at the reader. Try a few of these tricks: borders and rules (thick or decorative ones will be more visible); sunbursts or balloons; reverse type; bold print; boxed pull quotes; and bleeds; boxed off sections within the main text; eye-catching display type; type manipulated and distorted with special effects; text wrapped around graphics; text used as a graphic; type set at an angle, around a curve, or in a vertical line (as long as it's still easy to read).
Designing with Size/shape
The final element in making a brochure distinctive is the size and shape. Paper is usually sold in standard sizes: 8-1/2x11, 8-1/2x14, and 11 x 17. Your flyer can stand out by trimming from one of these standard sizes to something unusual but, be certain if you plan to mail your flier make sure that you can get envelopes to fit! Trimming also allows you to get a "bleed" effect-ink running off the edge of the paper. For instance, if you have multiple Product Sheets or Sell Sheets, you can trim the top off at different sizes for each one, creating a "step" which can be placed in a Pocket Folder as a multiple product presentation.
